DANETTE ENGLISH

Danette’s work, in 2-dimensional media as well as ceramics, has been included in recent exhibitions throughout the greater Boston area, such as the 2023 Celebrating Cape Ann Artisans 40th Anniversary exhibition at the Rocky Neck Art Gallery, Gloucester, MA and the Belmont Gallery of Art, Belmont MA exhibition Off the Clock.  She has received fellowship awards from the Somerville Arts Council and the New England Foundation for the Arts, and her work is found in numerous corporate and private collections.

Artist’s Statement:

My work is an investigation of biomorphic and symbolic forms in a spatial atmosphere of color and light. These are optically oriented abstractions in which color and the arrangement of forms in space become the vehicle for illusion. I am pursuing the formal elements of color relationships as well as the emotional response that color can elicit. I intend to provoke a physical sensation in the viewer, which includes feelings of warmth and coolness, a sense of closeness, distance and motion.
